What stone is this?

Upload a few photos and we'll show you the most likely crystal or mineral, with an honest confidence rating, the look-alikes worth ruling out, and simple tests you can do at home to know for sure.

Add photos of your stone

Tap to take a photo or upload up to 4 images. Drag & drop works too.

📸 How to get the most accurate result
  • Use natural, indirect daylight. Indoor bulbs shift colors, especially purples, pinks, and greens.
  • Shoot more than one angle. A whole-stone shot plus a close-up of the surface or a single crystal face tells us far more.
  • Include something for scale, like a coin or your fingertip.
  • Show natural texture. If it's tumbled and shiny, a raw or broken edge (if any) is gold for identification.
Add a few details to sharpen the result (optional)

We look up the geologic formation at that spot (via the Macrostrat geologic map) to sharpen rock identification. Your coordinates are used for that lookup only, never stored.

Photo identification is a strong starting point, not a lab certification.
